Foundation Scholarships
Beverly Kremin Memorial Health
Care Scholarship
St. Mary's of Michigan Foundation is pleased to announce two 2011 recipients of Beverly
Kremin Memorial Health Care Scholarships, Curt Laugh and Anne Munson.
Curt is the son of Tim Laugh, Director of Seton Cancer Institute, and Christa Laugh,
Towne Centre massage therapist. He is a 2011 graduate of Heritage High School and is
pursuing a career in Bio Med Engineering at Wayne State University.
Anne, daughter of Karen Munson, Surgery RN, is a 2011
graduate of Frankenmuth High School. She began her
Nursing studies at Saginaw Valley State University in the
fall and will transfer to Michigan State University.
The Beverly Kremin Memorial Scholarship was created by
the Michael Kremin family in loving memory of Beverly
Kremin, RN, who worked at St. Mary's of Michigan. The
scholarship is awarded each year to up to two deserving
high school seniors. The graduating senior must be a child
of a St. Mary's of Michigan associate and be accepted
into a full-time academic program in nursing or an allied
health field.
St. Mary's of Michigan Foundation is pleased to help Curt

Dr. Raana Akbar Scholarship for Women
in Health Care
Heidi Richards has been awarded the Dr. Raana Akbar
Scholarship for Women in Health Care. Heidi is a graduate
student in the Master of Science in Nursing program at
Saginaw Valley State University and hopes to become a Nurse
Practitioner.
The Dr. Raana Akbar Scholarship for Women in Health Care
was created by Dr. Waheed Akbar and the Akbar family in
honor and memory of Dr. Raana Akbar, a board certified
allergist. Dr. Akbar established herself as an advocate, leader
and health care pioneer in the Saginaw community for over
30 years.
The annual scholarship is provided for the benefit of a
woman enrolled in or accepted for enrollment in a full-time
undergraduate or graduate academic program in a health
care-related field.
Amita Mridha Health Care Scholarship
Denaé Asel-Templin has been awarded the Amita Mridha
Health Care Scholarship. Denaé is in her second semester
of pursuing a degree in Kinesiology at Michigan State
University. She plans to become an Occupational Therapist.
Dr. Debasish Mridha and Mrs. Chinu Mridha share a
passionate interest in supporting education and unleashing
the potential of others to do good work in the community
and the world. The couple graciously donated these
scholarship funds in honor of their daughter, Amita.
Funds were provided for the benefit of an undergraduate
student enrolled in or accepted for enrollment in a full-time
academic program in a health care-related field.
