In November, the Fauquier NAACP hosted its 70th
Annual Freedom Fund Gala, "Bowties & Pearls:
Po lishe d in Pur p o se," at L aure l R i dg e
Community College in Warrenton, with 125
people in attendance.
The gala serves as the organization's signature
fundraiser, supporting its mission to award
scholarships to students, host public housing
forums, assist individuals affected by racial
discrimination, and advocate for meaningful
policy reforms.
Founded in 1909, the National Association for the
Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) is the
nation's oldest and largest civil rights organization.
The Fauquier County branch was established in 1955.

live music throughout the evening, as attendees
celebrated seven decades of local advocacy and
progress. The gala also introduced new award
categories, recognizing emerging leaders and
Black-owned businesses for their contributions to
the community.
Earsaline Anderson received the Fauquier NAACP's
Fifth Annual Distinguished Citizen Service Award.
A 1964 graduate of William C. Taylor High School--
the first high school in Fauquier County for Black
students during segregation--Earsaline serves as
chair of the William C. Taylor High School Reunion
Committee and the Taylor Historical Society. She
led the effort to preserve Taylor's history and is an
associate producer of the documentary W.C. Taylor
High School: A Legacy.
Raeid Ebrahim received the Emerging Leader of the
Year Award. Active in local politics, he serves as the
political action committee lead for the Fauquier
NAACP and ran for the Fauquier County Board of
Supervisors (Center District) in 2023.
Ednida T. Minor received the Black-Owned
Business of the Year Award. She is the founder and
owner of Walk By Faith LLC, a Christian and
inspirational bookstore at 9 S. 5th Street in
Warrenton. The store offers a wide selection of
Christian books, devotionals, Bibles, music, gifts,
church supplies, and apparel.
The milestone celebration underscored the
NAACP's enduring mission of empowerment,
equality, and engagement. Guests left inspired by
the organization's legacy--and by its vision for a
more just and equitable future in Fauquier County.
