Youth Activities IT’S A CAKE BASH — CUPCAKE DECORATING FUN & MORE! NEW! Program Instructor, Tara Allen of Bash Parties Children will learn basic decorating techniques and design their own cupcakes like a pro! Not only will they have fun decorating them, they get to enjoy eating one, too! Our young pastry chefs will decorate three cupcakes, one to eat and two to bring home ... who gets dibs on the extra cupcakes? Yum! To add a little extra fun to this party, we will design and decorate personalized aprons, too! We will top it all off with a twist on traditional party games. Such a sweet treat on a summer afternoon! All supplies and materials are included. Includes a FREE pool admission pass (for your child and a supervising adult), too! Art Bash is WINNING all about creativity and fun! During this program, COMBO! we’ll make a tote bag and a paracord bracelet, the perfect summer accessories. We’ll play some crazy art games like our Hawaiian drawing game, where you have to draw everything with your eyes closed! We’ll have lots of color options on hand for our crafts, which makes this a great program for a boy or a girl. All that excitement can make you work up an appetite, so we’ll end our Art Bash program with a cupcake that you’ll decorate yourself! It’s sure to be a super, fun time! At Queensbury Parks & Recreation, summer never ends! Enjoy a variety of outdoor specialty activities at the department’s Gurney Lane Recreation Area. Choose one day of activity that interests you or participate in all four! Specialty activities will be approximately 1-2 hours in length followed by lunch. The remainder of the afternoon will be spent swimming in the Gurney Lane pool. WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 22 “WATER OLYMPICS” The Gurney Lane pool will be our stadium for friendly water competition! There will be events for everyone from team relay races, balance games, hidden diving sticks, and more! Points will be awarded for team spirit and good sportsmanship! FRIDAY, AUGUST 24 “FIELD FUN DAY” Join us for all sorts of crazy field games! From water balloon toss, egg relays, and volleyball to Can Jam, Bocce, Ladder Toss, and more! WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 29 “HIKE & BIKE” We will be hiking across not one, but two town parks! We will begin on the Gurney Lane trails and then head to Rush Pond, where we will have a picnic lunch in the woods! Please send your child with a water bottle and appropriate footwear/ clothing for hiking/biking in the woods. FRIDAY, AUGUST 31 “FISH, CHIPS & A DIP” A relaxing morning of fishing in the Gurney Lane pond, followed by chips (snacks) and a dip in the Gurney Lane pool! Our very own, Gary Crossman, an experienced fisherman, will be demonstrating baiting, casting and spinning rod techniques. Bring your own fishing pole/tackle if you have one.
