Strategic Plan Update Thank you! On behalf of the Vancouver Public Schools Board of Directors and the Strategic Planning Team, we would like to share our heartfelt appreciation for our community’s contributions to our strategic planning process. Together, we have embarked on a journey to Write Our Story. Your participation has been instrumental in defining the priorities of our community and the vision for VPS graduates. We have checked in with you throughout the process and are doing that once again. This page highlights themes we’ve heard to date. We will start to clarify, prioritize, and draft goals related to these themes, re-engage with our advisory committees and then share a draft strategic plan in September and October. Thank you for contributing to this process and as a result to the students in Vancouver Public Schools. We are committed to providing diverse pathways for our students, whether they choose to pursue workforce opportunities, trades, or higher education. Our goal is to ensure that all students receive a well-rounded and thorough education that truly prepares them for success in their chosen path, empowering them for a promising future. CORNERSTONE 2: Student-Centered Community In order to support our students, we will unite our community behind our students by embracing the shared core values that are the foundation of our strategic plan. This will help us create an environment that promotes collaboration, inclusivity, and a sense of belonging. To enhance the student-learning experience, we are committed to expanding opportunities for student participation in open, two-way communications. CORNERSTONE 3: Student-Centered Workforce At VPS, we recognize that our staff are the key to creating a studentcentered experience. To ensure equitable outcomes for all students, we are dedicated to prioritizing the recruitment, retention, and professional development of exceptional and diverse educators. We are committed to hiring highly qualified staff who are passionate about providing quality instruction and reflect the diversity of our community and student body. We are committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment where staff members feel safe, valued, and a sense of belonging.
