CEO Report
Goodbye frosts and hello spring and summer! As we welcome in the new
seasons to the picturesque New England region, flowers start to bloom,
magpies swoop and life springs back into action that for the most part lay
dormant in the winter. As the physical environment changes, so too has the
governance structures of this great community asset. At the Clubs recent
annual general meeting President Richie Clutterbuck retired from the Clubs
Board after 42 years of service during which time he held every role on
the Board with distinction. His legacy is evident and his experience will be
sorely missed from the Clubs boardroom. With any change comes new
opportunities, and with Richie's exit came the appointment of the Clubs first
female bowler in 102 years to hold a position on the Clubs governing body in
Director Marie Knight, as well as the appointment of Andrew Carey to his first
term on the Board of Directors. I look forward to the positive impact both these
individuals provide to the Clubs future direction.
On the backdrop of new beginnings we close out the last edition of the Shout
magazine for 2016 and spot light our last feature on the theme of `giving'. To
highlight the diverse and multifaceted ways Clubs give to different individuals
we randomly selected members and asked them to tell us how the Club gives
to them personally. The individual responses show the intimate and crucial role
that Clubs play in the social fabric of society by adding support structures and
providing a `town hall' meeting place for all community members.
The pages of this Shout are also consumed with the latest promotional
offerings in the lead up to Christmas. To `ease the squeeze' on members
over the holiday period the Club will offer up tens of thousands of dollars of
giveaways from holidays, to cash prizes and hams. To enable you to enjoy the
benefits of being a member I encourage all patrons to use their cards when
making purchases or entering the Club and for those yet to join the `Bowlo'
team, make today the day to start unlocking rewards.
Whilst taking advantage of the Clubs promotional offerings be sure to
experience the recently updated bathroom facilities and external lift to the
TOPS function room. This modernisation will be followed in the near future
by more developmental work that reinforces the board's commitment to
reinvesting community funds in facility upgrades for everyone to enjoy.
It's well known that whilst the Club offers state of the art facilities its real assets
has always been the professional staff that have developed and maintained
the Clubs financial success. It's due to these people, and specifically the Clubs
hard working events team, that they have again had the honour bestowed
on them of being nominated in the Australian Bridal Industry Awards for
best function venue and Events Coordinator. This places them as leaders in
the event management field and is a tremendous achievement as the lone
Bowling Club nominated. I encourage you to contact our team if you're
wanting to plan your next special occasion or business meeting, their record is
a testament to their skill in turning plans into well executed reality.
Once again thank you to all those people who call the Bowlo `home base' and
I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas and holiday period surrounded by
friends and family.
