CV-2 Door Interlock
For Use with Retiring Cam
The CV-2, electrical/mechanical contact switch
is intended for use with counter-balanced,
vertical sliding, bi-parting freight doors. It is
wired in series with all of the other door switches
in the hoistway and the electrical control circuit
of the elevator so as to produce an overall
electrical safety loop. In addition to this circuit
closing system there is a mechanical latch which
locks the bottom door in the closed or up
position. Because the bottom door is latch
locked in the up position it will support the upper
door should the door connecting chain break.
The CV-2 interlock has two contacts, one for the
door and one for the retiring cam. The retiring
cam is a safety feature to insure that the retiring
cam has been picked prior to the car moving.
The CV-2 is made for right-hand or left-hand
mounting. The hand is determined by standing
inside the elevator looking out. The side on
which the lock is to be mounted (left or right) is
the hand to be ordered.
When the elevator stops at the landing the cam
on the elevator, stationary or retiring, strikes the
interlock roller arm opening the lock. The lower
hoistway door then slides vertically downward
and the locking bar mounted on the door
mechanically opens the contacts. When the door
is closed the locking bar closes the contacts.
