First she drew the Danish cartoon
Valhalla meanwhile she studied the great
classics Degas and Rodin at the Glyptotek
in Copenhagen. Then she finished an MSc
in Economics and joggled with statistics
and graphs for several years. But now she
is back doing what she loves the most;
sculpting. She is inspired by her art
school courses in New York and by studies
in an unnamed studio at Vesterbro in
Copenhagen. Human figurines in clay
burnt or cast is what captivate her.
She is 46 years old. Her name is Pia
Hutters.

It all started at a parents' evening.
There they were, the beautiful sculptures
by the dozen and side by side on the
window sill in Pia's kitchen, just
waiting to be noticed. And by coinci-
dence, we had just talked about having
sculptures in the hotel lobby at the new
Ibsens, both for decoration and for sale.

"It is great to see the sculptures come
alive in the new lobby at Ibsens Hotel.
This is what a hotel is all about: people
in movement and at rest. At the same time
I think they interact beautifully with
the clean lines and lovely colours in the
room",
Pia Hutters says.
