Elizabeth Skytte could no longer unite
their working life with their private
life. So they decided to become their own
executives and founded the design company
"we shop". One had a dream of shaping her
surroundings and making life simpler and
more beautiful, the other had a dream of
operating a business and making it grow.
Several of their products are today to be
found at Danish Design Museum, Louisiana
and more.
"Two years ago, Elizabeth and I rented
facilities in a backyard in Nansensgade
and started our design company, we shop.
We love the street, all its batty fates,
and the lovely little shops. And when we
met the people behind Ibsens Hotel, who
told us about the refurbishment and about
including the local neighbourhood in the
decoration of the hotel, we fell in love
with the idea right away", Wencke Barfoed
says.
Therefore, some of we shops' small coffee
tables are used in some of our rooms,
while their newspaper and magazine racks
can be found in the lobby, simply because
we want our lobby to be full of cool
magazines, colourful weekly`s, newspapers
and stacks of old vinyl records.
