1998 by the Danish artist Lars Krĉmmer. Artmoney is 18x12 cm (app. 7x5 inches) sized "bills" created by registered artmoney artists. The value of one artmoney is DKK 200 (app. 27 or $39). Artmoney is used as alternative means of payment to purchase goods or services in artmoney shops all over the world. As the first hotel in the world, Ibsens Hotel accepts artmoney as payment. Here at Ibsens, we have decorated several walls with all kinds of artmoney from all over the world. To us, the idea of the artmoney project is both fun and sustainable. Fantastic stories hide behind the pictures. An Indian artist donates all his earnings from his artmoney to a children's home in India. Another artist from Tanzania bought a laptop from his artmoney earnings and is today making a living of safari tours. And yet others are renowned artists that usually exhibit their works at the posh galleries in Copenhagen or in Manhattan, New York. If a hotel guest falls in love with an artmoney, it can be bought for DKK 200. |
