Presented by Drew Monthie BENEFICIAL INSECTS AND SUBURBAN YARD ECOLOGY Drew operates Ecologic Consulting LLC (www.ecologicconsulting.net), specializing in plant driven design and consultation. He is based in the Shirt Factory building in Glens Falls. He earned an A.A.S. in Plant Science. Drew has owned and operated a nursery/landscape business for about a decade. He earned an A.A.S. in Plant Science, B.S. in Ecology and a M.A. in Ethnobotany. He has been teaching and designing courses as a Professor in the Natural Sciences for SUNY Empire State College for the last decade in the areas of horticulture, botany, ethnobotany, and ecology. However, without insects our food supply would disappear and with the disappearance of insects, much of life on planet Earth, as well. This presentation will focus on some of the insects that you may not have noticed in your yard and explore creating yard habitat, not just for pretty insects like butterflies; but also, for the many other essential insects in the web of life.
