Dordt College
recently invited high school
students from across the United States to ex-
plore more deeply the value of creation through
their participation in a photo contest. Students
submitted photos, and essays describing their
photos, that exemplified the theme "Let All
Creation Praise Him."
The Environmental Studies Department at Dordt
College selected the winners. There were many stunning
images submitted: birds, insects, and other animals; mosses,
trees, flowers, and other plant life; and winter, summer,
and spring landscapes. The photos showed the creativity,
providence, and power of our God, and the accompanying
essays showed thoughtful engagement with the theme and
the images.
The first place winner, with a prize of $500, went to Parker
Cunningham from Helena, Alabama, for his submission,
"Creation's Role and Our Response." The second place win-
ner, with a prize of $250, went to Shelby Young from Pelham,
Alabama, for her submission, "Declare the Maker's Praise."
The judges also selected two honorable mentions: "Working
Together" by Ellie Middendorf from Scotia, Nebraska, and
"Unlikely Hero" by Ellie Jasper from Pine Island, Minnesota.
