If you don't just stick to
what you know, you will
find the benefits of trying
new things.
When I arrived at the International
College, I saw doing activities
as a way to meet new people,
appreciate the culture and learn
new skills.
The reason I joined Combined Cadet
Force was to leave my comfort zone
and try out new things. Later on the
same mind-set led me to join the rowing
club. During rowing I developed a new
appreciation towards effective teamwork,
because if you don't work together, you
will all end up having to swim to shore.
Attending talks hosted by the school's
politics department gave me a chance
to expand my knowledge of politics, my
dearest interest in life. These talks gave
me a chance to see what the people in
Downing Street make of the world when
they look at a map.
Befriending the students I met through
attending these activities gave me
company and a chance to see the world
through their eyes. Their opinions, ideas
and beliefs showed me just how many
ways there are to see the world.
