Having been to a day school
until the age of 16 the
prospect of boarding was one
that was unknown to me.
However my time at Monkton has been my favourite year so far. While there
have been challenges, and it did take getting used to, boarding has been
wonderful and quite simply full of laughter.
The fact that you are with your friends
for so much of your day creates strong
friendships that are key in helping you
through those surprising moments of
homesickness and tiredness.
Our evenings as a house in our
Houseparents living room are some of
my favourite parts of the week and
despite being in Year 13, I really
appreciate the moments where I laugh
and discuss our days with girls who,
despite being younger, feel like sisters.
Living at school provides me with
the opportunity to get involved with
some of the many extra-curricular
activities on offer here - whether that
be on the playing field, in the music
block, or on the stage - and having
that freedom is something I am hugely
grateful for.
Often I am having so much fun
and am so busy that the thought
of missing home does not even
enter my mind.
