Ellesmere College
Founded in 1884, Ellesmere
is a co-educational boarding
and day school which offers
students from Yrs 3-13 a
platform for academic success
and personal development.
A wide ranging curriculum and
activities programme allows
each student the opportunity to
advance in a range of disciplines,
whether the Arts, Music, Drama,
Sport or to develop leadership
and entrepreneurial skills through
our DofE, CCF, ILM, ESB and EPQ
programmes. Ellesmere College
prides itself on it pastoral care
­ giving students a smooth and
happy transition experience from
home to boarding life at every
level. Our modern accommodation
provides a high quality, comfortable
and secure environment for our
students, with residential staff on
site 24 hrs a day. There is a close
liaison between the boarding and
teaching staff to ensure a continuity
of care at all times. Excellence
in academic achievements is
demonstrated consistently by Sixth
Form students at International
Baccalaureate, BTEC and A Level.
Over 85% of students gained entry
into their first choice universities
including Oxford, Cambridge and
other Russell Group Universities.
The Lower School (Yrs 3-8)
provides an environment which
helps children grow into happy,
secure and confident young
people. Middle School students
(Yrs 9-11) enjoy a stimulating
environment with an extensive
academic programme and an
even wider range of curricular
and co-curricular opportunities,
and through Yrs 12-13, students
have a choice of International
Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma,
BTEC and A levels.
For sports enthusiasts, Ellesmere
is one of only nine schools in
the world to be an accredited
Athlete Friendly Education Centre
(AFEC) by the World Academy
of Sport (WAoS), is the only UK
independent school to hold the
Arts Mark Platinum Award. With
the international renowned Titans
Swimming Team as one of our
seven Sporting Academies, and
incredible state of the art world
class facilities, pupils can train and
excel at every Olympic discipline.
