Ultimately, our goal is to equip the pupils with
the tools to leave us as happy, secure young
people, ready to take their place in the world.
Sending children to boarding school
can be a daunting prospect for any
family, but parents in the Middle
East are increasingly recognising the
significant benefits and opportunities
that come from a British education.
For these parents, pastoral care is a top
priority, followed by academic results, the
range of facilities and activities offered and,
importantly, the balance of day pupils and
boarders. Nobody wants to be one of a
handful of boarders in school at the weekends
when everyone else has gone home.
Pupils are encouraged to make the most of
the many opportunities on offer. Adventure
is an essential part of life, not simply an event
but something that teaches invaluable life
skills. Understanding risk and not shying away
from it is an important life skill. Children can
develop their risk management through being
exposed to it while they still have the support
of the school environment. Examples of
adventure might be learning to kayak, camping,
a night-time hike, overseas trips or sailing.
British Boarding by Ann Jackson,
Deputy Head (Pastoral), Dauntsey's.
"My parents were keen for my brother and I to come to a British boarding school and for
me to start my GCSE courses here. I really loved living at The Manor when I started it is
such a safe and happy environment and I was very happy to make lots of friends straight
away. In the first few weeks I played a lot of football which was a fun way to meet other
people. I would really recommend boarding to anyone!"
