"We aim to produce the
next generation of
leaders for our society.
With cutting-edge
teaching alongside a
traditional ethos, we
receive many offers
from the top universities
across the world."
CRGS is an 11-18 state selective
grammar school which admits
boys from Year 7 and has a
co-educational Sixth Form.
It is one of the top-performing
schools in the country, with over
90 Oxbridge offers and over
70 medical offers made in the
last three years. CRGS has been
the top school at A level in the
government league tables for
nine out of the last twelve years.
In The Sunday Times Schools
Guide 2019, the school came
top of the regional rankings.
CRGS is also one of very
few state boarding schools,
with a family-style boarding
house designed for 30 Sixth
Form students.
CRGS provides a rich education
for its students and promotes
their personal development
through pastoral care,
extracurricular activities and
leadership opportunities.
It is proud of its outstanding
reputation for games, music
and drama, and has its own
swimming pool, fully-equipped
gymnasium, multigym and
extensive games fields.
The family atmosphere, culture
of academic excellence and care
for the wellbeing of the students
are key features of CRGS. The
school is situated half a mile
from the town centre, standing
amongst trees in delightful,
mature gardens which are open
to all students.
Admission at 11+ is through
selection tests and at 16+ is
based on performance at GCSE.
