that suited them now and in the future," says Jonathan.
"They wanted four bedrooms, a study and large living
spaces that flowed directly onto an alfresco area and
good-sized garden."
With a timeframe of 12 months and a land size of
420 square metres to work with, Jonathan and his team
designed the home, had the plans drawn up and ensured
that the entire process would be efficient by submitting a
Complying Development Certificate (CDC).
"The CDC allows you to bypass the DA (development
application) process, which can tend to slow things down,"
says Jonathan.
Quick CDC approval means adhering to a rigid set
of requirements. "You basically have to build within the
building envelope, from the boundary to the house, so
neighbours aren't left looking out at large slabs of wall,"
Jonathan adds.
To comply, Tailored Construction Group came up
with a two-storey design that featured articulated walls
on both the right and left-hand side of the building, and
subtly stepped in the upstairs area.

After making the decision
to create their
dream family home, a Bondi couple was surprised to
discover that it would be more cost-efficient to build from
scratch rather than renovate.
"We costed out renovating the small, single-storey
cottage on the block of land we had purchased, but it was
going to be way too expensive," they explain. "We then
started getting quotes for building and were impressed
to discover that Tailored Construction Group could build
the house we wanted for less than the price of renovating."

by a work colleague, and the pair say they appreciated
the fact that company owner Jonathan Hayes was a great

to doing things differently," they say. "At every step of the
way he responded to our calls and was happy to research
