The house also has some quirky features, which give it
plenty of character. There is a 3x2.5-metre wall that slides
away, so the space can be opened up in an instant or closed
off for privacy. And there's also a full-working mechanics pit
in the garage made from polished concrete and complete
with safety grates and electricity. This is where Daniel works
on his collection of motorbikes and classic American vehicles.
"With Jonathan's help we have achieved exactly what
we set out to build within a 12-month period," says Daniel.
"The house is light and airy, and there are lots of little
unexpected surprises, which our two-year-old son really
loves. It's fully functional and really does reflect us and the
way we enjoy living."
"There are only a couple of
straight walls in the entire
house, and as in many
modern-day galleries
no architraves or skirtings
were used."
