MISCANTHUS giganteus $19.95 8’-12’ x 5’ z4 Giant Chinese Silver Grass
A huge, clump-forming, non-invasive grass, which lends a tropical appearance to northern gardens. Broad, blue-green, arching leaves create a fountain-like effect. Reddish-pink tassels bloom mid to late fall, mature to silver and persist through winter. Effective as a specimen, hedge, background and for screening. Cut back to about 6" when new foliage emerges in late spring. Very effective grown beside a pond. Sometimes sold as Miscanthus floridulus. Warm season. (2gal) Photo: WildThings
MISCANTHUS sinensis ‘Huron Sunrise’ $17.95 5’-6’ x 3’ z4 Huron Sunrise
The most profusely blooming miscanthus. Lavish burgundy plumes sweep the sky, turn fluffy white and remain standing through winter. A Martin Quinn introduction, bred in Kincardine, Ontario. Green leaves with silver midribs form a good-size clump. An early bloomer, which opens in August here. We can never keep this one in stock. Warm season. (1gal) Photo courtesy Walters Gardens, Inc.
