Photo: WildThings HOSTA ‘Chesterland Gold’ 20” x 48” Large $8.95 Chesterland Gold is one of the hostas that I treated myself to when I developed the big hosta beds at the back of the nursery. It’s the brightest light of the spring shade garden and that’s saying a lot, because it’s a really big garden chock full of bright lights. I like it for its large, bright gold leaves and its attractive, heavily corrugated texture and regal form. The leaves are slightly rippled with marvelous eye-catching texture and very thick, with excellent substance. Chesterland Gold is a sport of the wonderful Paul’s Glory and they make attractive companions in the hosta garden. Lavender flowers. Photo courtesy Walters Gardens, Inc. A sport of the award-winning ‘Blue Mouse Ears’ with coarsely wavy leaves, excellent vigour and slug resistance. Perfectly proportioned scapes carry lavender flowers.
