It explodes in late summer with brilliant, peacock-blue flowers as the finely textured green foliage turns maroon-red . Late to emerge in spring, but it flowers into the first, hard frost. Drought tolerant and deer resistant. Blooms best in sun to part shade, but will tolerate deeper shade, though the flowering will not be as profuse. Also very pretty in containers.
