CERCIS canadensis $65.00 30’ z 4 Canada Redbud
Magenta buds open to rosy-pink flowers and appear before the leaves form. The leaves are lovely - blue-green in colour, heartshaped and they emerge bronze-purple. Very adaptable- will tolerate most soils, full sun or light shade. A Carolinian forest native, but much hardier than commonly supposed. There is a well-grown blooming specimen in Mount Forest . Here at WildThings, our Redbud, planted from seed, is about 15 feet tall. Multi-stemmed. (7-gal) Photo: Source
CHIONANTHUS virginicus $54.00 12’ – 20’ z4 White Fringe Tree
An exceptionally beautiful specimen shrub with fleecy, fragrant, fringed white flowers on very long trusses, up to 8", which bloom in spring. Lustrous, deep green, spear-shaped leaves turn an attractive golden-yellow in fall. Spreading, open habit. Clusters of olive-like, dark blue fruit in autumn are relished by birds and wildlife. Easy to grow. Flowers when young, a very desirable attribute in a slow growing shrub. Very tolerant of air pollution. Native to southeastern North America and extremely hardy. Begins to flower just as the leaves emerge in late spring. (3-gal) Photo: Source
