ECHIUM russicum $10.95 24” x 16” z3 Viper’s Bugloss Tall spikes of dark wine-red flowers provide a vertical accent in the sunny, well-drained garden. It's listed as monocarpic, biennial, or perennial, depending on the source, but it has been soundly perennial for us. We're surprised not to see this in more gardens. The colour is really unusual, a mellow blend of deep red and deeper burgundy, it blooms over a very long period from early to late summer; the seed heads are attractive, and apparently it's hardy in the Yukon! The plants we're offering are blooming size.
