The "Must Tasks" in the four phases are as follows:
Phase 1: Selection of Ecolabel team:

Appoint an Ecolabel Team- The first necessary task
Appointment of a responsible person(s) called "The Ecolabel team" to integrate the Ecolabel in a building
project should be in place as early as possible and definitely before any decisions on product use are made.
Must Tasks
1. Increase Ecolabel Competence. The appointed team should have a reasonable level of competence
regarding Ecolabels and Ecolabel products and services.
Depending on the type of building project, the appointed Ecolabel team should be given the necessary
required resources and it is therefore a good idea to make a budget at the start and consider the "MUSTS"
into the budget.
The Ecolabel team should keep in mind that a successful integration of the Ecolabel depends greatly on:
a) The preparation work and a high competence level of the Ecolabel schemes
b) Ensuring a corroborative commitment from the decision makers and fruitful co-operation from
stakeholders
c) Ensuring ample resources to carry out the MUST task
Phase 2: Preparation
In this phase, it is important to assess the situation and make the necessary preparations relating to
Ecolabel products and suppliers. It is also the most important task in terms of all other tasks in the
implementation phase are dependent on how well the preparation has been made.
